Welcome to spring?

Is it spring yet? It must be because the temperature climbed to a balmy 15 degrees!

The first race of the season for Cam was the Neild Road hill climb.  About thirty riders showed up for this torturous event. (Most of them men, but I counted three or four women)

Riders were spaced at one minute intervals at the start line:

The competition was fierce! While Cam finished warming up on the trainer, I took off up the hill to get more photos.  However, as Cam rolled up to the start line to wait his turn to go, he realized his front tire was flat!  I had the truck keys, so he couldn't get his spare tube to change the flat. Luckily, Rob Breathet was coming down the hill after his race and gave Cam his front wheel.

Soon I saw Cam working hard up the road:

Other people were making their way up as well:

The race took only eight or nine minutes.  Cam was feeling the burn though, as it was his first race of the season. However, with a fourth place finish in the A group, it was a fine first race.

See this website for full results.

Jersey thinks we're foolish to partake in such vigorous activities.
